Which is the best local pub?

I am moving to Clapton, just off Chatsworth Road this weekend. Can you reccomend some pubs or bars which are friendly and full of character?

  1. Welcome to Clapton. There is a bit of a shortage of good pubs in Clapton but The Elderfield on Elderfield Rd is a great boozer, you might like Biddle Bros as well, on Lower Clapton Rd.

  2. The Elderfield would be the recommended local even if you were ANYWHERE else in Hackney

  3. The Elderfield (sometimes knows as The Eclipse) is a nice local Biddles is good too but lacks a decent ale selection. The Clapton Hart is on the way, hopefully in April (more on that over here: http://www.yeahhackney.com/2011/03/the-white-hart-clapton-hart-pub-lower-clapton-road and here: http://www.yeahhackney.com/white-hart-new-owners-1 ) Rileys is a new bar on Lower Clapton Road ( @rileysofclapton ) which has a temporary licence right now and is working towards a more permanent one. The Lumiere is a bit of a different bar on Chatsworth Road and is worth checking out. The Princess of Wales Lea Bridge Road on the river is worth a visit particularly in the summer @bethenymay also check out the Clapton group for other clapton tips http://www.yeahhackney.com/groups/clapton/forum/

  4. Lumiere is amazing if you can catch it open late at night!

  5. If you want a change from the Elderfield, and don’t mind a slightly longer walk, The Kenton’s also worth a visit.http://www.kentonpub.co.uk
