Wheeling in Hackney

Can’t find a really relevant group or any posts on this so far…  I’m looking for wheelchair-friendly places to eat /drink/ be entertained around Hackney, especially E5 and E8.  Only recently confined to wheelchair.  Been in E5 for 20 years and suddenly can’t access most of the places I used to.  By ‘wheelchair friendly’ I mean no step, or lip to cross.  So far, I’ve had good times at: Hackney Picture House, The Elderfield Pub, and just about into the back garden at Princess of Wales. And that’s about it.  Getting to places on our pavements is harder than I could possibly have imagined, but that’s another story…  Any good experiences in wheelchairs to share?

  1. Hi @rache there is a Hackney wide list of bars over here: http://www.yeahhackney.com/groups/hackney-after-dark/forum/topic/wheelchair-accesible-bars-in-hackney/ that you may find useful.

  2. Brill, thanks.  I’ll add to your list as I go along too.  I’d like to include cafes and restaurants – shall we start a separate list or could you bung an eating section onto yours?

  3. @rache add them in to that list (as so many things cross both categories) and I can updated the title to be a little more encompassing. Cheers
