The Hemingway pub

There has been a big pub at 84 Victoria Park Road for a very long time, in recent history it has been The Royal Standard,  Garbos, The Pennethorne and for the last 4 months it has been The Hemingway. I have walked past this building many times, but after hearing about it’s latest guise I decided to finally go in.

The Hemingway has been done up with in the style of a old gentlemen’s club, animal heads and guns adorn the walls and chesterfield style sofas make up the seating. There is a bar with a nice selection of drinks, including a couple of ales and a restaurant serving posh pub grub – which included Fish and Chips and risotto with jerusalem artichokes.

The clientele where mixed, we sat opposite an older gentleman wearing a 3-piece suit, as well as the expected Hackney trendy locals.

A nice pub and worth a visit if just to check out the weird bearded monkey head.
