The George, Glyn Rd
I can’t remember for sure which days this formerly disused pub is open (Monday to Wednesday?) but they definitely open their doors on Tuesday evenings. They have bands playing and film screenings, but for obvious reasons like to keep things on the down-low. USPs: You can smoke inside, and they have a swing!I actually first read about this place via a blogger who seemed to have an axe to grind. Maybe they were noisy neighbours: http://dancingwithahoe.blogspot.com/2010/03/george171-glynn-arm-rd-homertonlondon.html

I was told they were squatting. I think their regular music night adds a good dimension to the neighbourhood that currently lacks much in terms of night time activity on offer. And i think it was them doing the music at market today.

I went there a couple of months ago and it was the one of the best nights I ever had! Sadly, though, when we tried to go again a couple of weeks ago, it was closed and we were told (through the window) that the life music nights had finished… So sounds like it no longer exists.

If this goes through it just re-enforces my opinion of how the current planning system is broken.

I have been to these meetings and they are generally a bit of a farce. It’s a shame they the council have already suggested that it be granted – I assume they just do this for most planning applications

Thats what the area needs, more crappy flats!
