Spitalfields Life by the Gentle Author

Got a copy of this yesterday and it’s a great read! Basically it’s the book of one of the best web blogs around. Centered in Spitalfields but covering much of the East End including Shoreditch and Dalston it tells of life in the East End today and yesterday. Most topics are just a couple of pages each and it has over 400 pages so there’s plenty of variety. You can read about the Curtain Road Theatre and Grimaldi’s clown church service; it’s nicely illustrated too. Book launch party is tomorrow evening March 2nd at Christ Church, Spitalfields. the web blog is at http://spitalfieldslife.com/the-book/Hardback Price £20@bowlofchalk you mentioned this on your walk.”

  4. Did you to this @janice ?I went to a Spitalfields Life ‘Chit-Chat’ a few weeks ago at the Bishopsgate Institute’ 3 Lady pensioners recounting their lives in the East End – fantastic evening!I’m still reading the book and enjoying it.

  5. Yes, I went. It was three men talking about their role in the garment industry. Really fascinating. I got a lot out of it – gave me so much food for thought. Tried to stay behind to talk to the GA but I had a deadline and ended up leaving before my turn came.
