LIFE IN MY SHOES: UNDEFEATEDFilm screening and panel discussion events for Secondary and Post-16 Students Picturehouse Education is working with  Body and Soul Charity to present screenings of their outstanding film UNDEFEATED with panel discussions based on the issues raised. Established in 1996 Body & Soul is a pioneering UK charity dedicated to transforming the lives of children teenagers and families living with or affected by HIV.On average 7 students in your school are directly affected by HIV. The likelihood is they haven’t disclosed this to you due to an overwhelming feeling of being different to their peers.LIFE IN MY SHOES is an inspiring and innovative campaign giving you the tools to improve understanding of HIV and effectively impact the way your students respond to and challenge difference in your school.“It’s a huge concern that a recent report from the Sex Education Forum showed one in four children are not being taught about HIV in school.” Nick Gibb Schools Minister May 2011This award-winning campaign has been designed and inspired by young people living with and affected by HIV; giving a first hand insight into the realities and challenges they face in and out of the classroom. Their stories have been made into this powerful 30 min film.  UNDEFEATED is a story of youth hatred courage and pace in an inner city London school. This is one girl’s struggle to survive in a world intent on holding her back. Blessing dreams of stillness but has a secret that has forced her to run her whole life. When the school secretary exposes her secret she has to face her fears her future her friends and herself. UNDEFEATED was filmed at the Bridge Academy in Hackney.An Educational resource will be provided that links directly to the film exploring themes of Relationships HIV Stigma Prejudice and difference. It uses film photography interactive online games to actively engage and inspire young people to better understand life in each others’ shoes and promote increased empathy.
