Photos of Hackney’s traveller children in the 80s

Colin O’Brien spent three weeks photographing the children of travellers in Hackney 25 years ago. The photos are being shown tomorrow as part of Photo Month at Genesis Cinema, Stepney. Definitely worth a look I think! http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/art/features/photo-essay-travellers-children-1987-8195612.html

  1. The photos are amazing. Children look more `alive` and that`s a fact. Thanks for sharing!

  2. They are great photos, especially as kids find it hard to hide their emotions and I think their personalities really come through in these photos.

  3. This exhibiton of photographs has now been turned into a book, the book launch is on 3rd July at E5 Bakehouse London Fields, details here…http://spitalfieldslife.com/2013/06/19/the-gentle-author-turns-publisher/

  4. Colin O’Brien will be exhibiting this series of photograhs at Hackney Museum (opposite the Picture House, Mare Street) this summer (June to September).

  5. Great, I’ll definitely of and check them out, I’ll dig out the details and add it to the calendar too

  6. I can’t see anything about it on the Hackney Museum website 🙁
