Paws&Purrs new shop!

Hackney’s newest pet shop for dogs and cats is now open six days-a-week. Stoke Newington is often referred to as Nappy valley, with buggies and babies to be found at every turn. But it could just as easily be called ‘Yappy valley’, given the dogs of all shapes and sizes to be found careering across Clissold Park or sniffing around the cemetery. And that’s not to mention the feline population. A typical Stokey street scene would not be complete without a cat peeking out of a window or keeping watch on top of a garden wall. But with owners well catered for, with bakeries, butchers, barbers, bookshops and more, what about these important inhabitants? Is a rubbish toy or a gloopy tin of cut price pet food really what they deserve?! So, on the auspicious occasion of the Olympic Torch passing through, we brought Paws&Purrs to Stokey by opening our first shop. Based on Kersley Road, just off Church Street (opposite the Fire Station) we stock both treasures and essentials for cats, dogs and their owners. We are not a traditional pet shop. All of our stock is carefully chosen with quality and durability in mind. Our toys are extra tough, our food is natural and healthy and our gifts are on the right side of kitsch. We aren’t into tacky clothes for pets or tat. Your dogs and cats won’t look silly in one of our coats or collars! All of the things we sell are tried and tested on Betty the terrier, Indie and Fizz the rescue cats and other four legged friends. We’ve even tried some of the Lily’s Kitchen dog food ourself! As much as we can, we source our products from Britain and look for items that have a green element too such as our bowls made from plant fibres or our recycled dog toys. Over the coming weeks we’ll be adding more and more to our range, including our own designs, and we hope to be able to offer a grooming service very soon too. We are now open every day apart from Mondays. So please pop in and say hello. Dogs are very welcome! We will also be at Broadway Market every Saturday and our website www.pawsandpurrsonline.co.uk still offers free delivery on items over £20 in E8 and N16.
