Market Cafe on Broadway Market

Market Cafe The Market Cafe on Broadway Market is opening next week but a few of us got the chance to have a look round last night and sample some of their offerings while they still have the builders in. The Cafe is from Hackney local Hugo Warner who is crossing London Italian Cafe styling (including a Pellicci’s style custard yellow formica centre table top) with classic british cocktails good wine and great food. The Amalfi lemon sorbet is worth the visit alone. Market Cafe Market Cafe http://twitter.com/marketcafeldn http://market-cafe.co.uk/

  1. And I should add owner Hugo and wife Fran were most welcoming!

  2. It was a lovely preview, indeed. The design details in the lamps, furniture and teacups were exquisite. They’ll have to be careful of people trying to pinch them (*ahem*). darling lemon sorbet sweet little table and chairs

  3. Really looking forward to this place opening, Bway Market needs a new place that’s not just a coffee shop!

  4. They should be open this Weds (1st March) 🙂

  5. Went there on Monday and it was just about empty. The menu online was promising so a bit disappointed that their offers were different and the two dishes we really wanted weren’t offered. We had two starters – grilled sardines, nicely charred, and arancini which were small and OK but a bit disappointing. Then we had harissa chicken with raita – again nicely charred. Also the daily pappardelle which came with meatballs that were heavily laced with chorizo, nice but unexpected. The pasta itself was tender. We opted not to have a dessert. Our feeling was the prices were a bit high but we would go back mostly because it’s unassuming and nicely cooked nothing fussy. I would have a small pasta and a glass of wine and leave it at that. Perfect.
