Mapping The Change: Hackney-based journalism project

The programme was first launched by Hackney Museum and Words of Colour Productions in 2010, and led to the creation of a community newspaper called Hackney Circuit. A group of 11 local budding journalists took part in a free seven week programme which focused on local issues in the lead up to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games.Following on from the success of the 2010 course, we are proud to announce the launch of the 2011 programme and are seeking our next term of aspiring adult journalists to join us on this seven week summer course. If you live, work, study or receive services in Hackney and are interested in sharing your interests, local knowledge and experiences at this momentous time of change, this could be the opportunity for you.Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and delivered by Words of Colour Productions, you will have the chance to develop your ideas into stories, meet established journalists and have your work published in the next edition newspaper of Hackney Circuit. The newspapers will be part of Hackney Museum’s Mapping the Change main exhibition, Summer 2012 and will later be housed in Hackney Museum’s collection for future generations to enjoy. For more information or to apply visit the www.wordsofcolour.co.uk/mtc/mapping_the_change-hackney
