London Feminist Film Festival @ Hackney Picturehouse

This year the London Feminist Film Festival is taking place for the very first time at the Hackney Picturehouse (270 Mare Street, London E8 1HE). The festival will run from from 29 November to 2 December 2012 and we will be showing feminist feature films, documentaries, and short films, made by women filmmakers from around the world.The festival aims to counterbalance the mainstream film industry’s narrow representation of women and its neglect of feminist issues by showing a season of films made by women filmmakers from around the world. It will be a celebration of feminist filmmaking and will showcase films by up-and-coming women directors as well as screening feminist arthouse classics. The films will be feminist in their representation of women and/or their handling of feminist issues.
