Legacy in the Dust: The Four Aces story Sat 5th May
As part of Dalston’s Land of Kings Festival: “We team up with Clash Magazine to delve way back to the dawn of Dalston’s dream as we lift the lid on the legendary ‘Four Aces Club’ a now defunct but legendary temple of music that ran for 36 years hosting every late and great reggae star from Toots to Jimmy Cliff and back to The Ethiopians before becoming an essential rave centre when Labyrinth the free party crew was driven into venues by the Thatcher Government’s crack down on parties outside. The Four Aces Club was a crucial hub from which the DNA of East London’s modern music scene was wildly sewn on a nightly basis. Join us on Saturday 5th May for an afternoon hosted by owner Newton Dunbar as he brings a sunshine BBQ dub and bashment to the Curve Garden from 3pm. Once we’re fed we move to the Arcola Tent for a screening of the Winstan Whittar feature film ‘Legacy in the Dust: The Four Aces Story” finishing up at Moustache Bar as The Four Aces Allstars are joined by the Clash DJ Team and local hotjocks Breach Hannah Holland and Tayo to play out a genealogy of party hits and jungle classics. “
