Jubilee Street Parties

Hello I was wondering if anyone had collated a list of Jubilee street parties and other happenings in Hackney during the Jubilee. I quite fancy cycling around the borough and seeing as many as I can over the weekend. Could you leave details of any parties you know of below, along with any relevant details (times, cost (?), entry requirements (bringing cake, etc)). Thanks!

  1. Here’s my addition: Suffolk Estate party, Sunday 12:30pm.Laxfield Court, Pownall Road, E8(this is for residents, but I am sure people are welcome)

  2. @ewebber will slap my wrists if any aren’t our Hackney but: they all fall under Hackney council even when they’re N1. I’m shocked there’s no official list anywhere especially where there are street closures. Also I noticed that BRENTHOUSE or maybe DARNLEY Road had a sign to say it would be closed to traffic on Sunday so I suspect there’s something big going on there. I plan to go to Wilton Way and also Chatsworth Road if I get a chance. Is there nothing planned for Dalston, Clapton or Hackney Downs? Even Hackney Today holds no clues and parties are expected to spring up at the last minute I can’t wait. There will be a Diamond Jubilee Party held on Lockner Estate on Sunday 3rd June. The celebrations start at 2pm and include live music, food, drink, bouncy castle, kid’s entertainment and more. All Lockner estate residents are welcome.Northchurch Road committee are holding a street party on Monday 4th June starting at 1pm. Residents from the area bordered by Englefield Road, de Beauvoir Road and Downham Road are invited to bring tables, chairs and a picnic lunch to share with neighbours. The party is being held on the car-free intersection of Northchurch Road, Northchurch Terrace, Culford Road and Lawford Road. And any musicians – or spirited amateurs – are encouraged to bring along their instruments. On Tuesday 5th June there will be a neighbourhood picnic in De Beauvoir Square. This will be an informal gathering and residents are encouraged to bring jubilee-themed picnics and bunting. However BBQs are not allowed in the gardens. Again, any local musicians who would like to bring their instruments and provide some entertainment will be more than welcome.

  3. There’s a few more listed in The Citizen (though not all strictly in Hackney) including a flotilla on the Regents canal Stokey Church Street and Rivington Street (this one looks less likely to involve bunting and cream teas) “

  5. While I appreciate people’s interest in what parties are being held across the borough (and the N1 areas of Hackney are no different from any other Hackney postcodes), it can be a complete pain having endless passing strangers barging in on parties which were organised by and intended for the immediate residents and their own guests. Bringing cake or whatever does not excuse bad behaviour. Last year, the Royal Wedding street party in my road ended up full of anonymous drunks, literally piled up in heaps all over the pavements – it all became extremely unpleasant for the residents, who’d done all the work of organising the party in the first place and found that the experience was badly spoilt for them from very early on. So if you want to attend a street party this weekend – try holding your own, if there’s none already happening in your immediate neighbourhood to which you’ve been invited personally.

  6. Wow, great list! We’re going to be doing a free Salsa Workshop at Chatsworth road in an hour or so! Pop on down and get into some latin grooving!
