How Hackney BEMA Artists can benefit from the 2012 Olympic Games

BEMA Info afternoon in partnership with London Borough of Hackney at Greae Theatre Shoreditch on Tues 31st May 2-5pm

BEMA and London Borough of Hackney (Olympics 2012 Unit) are working together to help inform members of the how they can get involved with the Olympics in terms of the overall celebrations.

At a special half-day event at the end of the month BEMA and Hackney’s Olympic 2012 unit will be on hand to give members and supporters all the information they need.

Olympic and Paralympic Head Charlie Forman will give an introduction to the Games Time activities outlining the opportunities Hackney will have in terms of creating the best possible experience for Hackney’s residents draw in visitors from London and further afield maximise the potential for corporate hospitality and use the Games to enhance Hackney’s image and reputation.* Games Time – Danny Thorpe LBH – overall outline of the London Events Coordination Calendar.
* 4 pillars – Yvonne Folkes LBH – Cultural Centrepiece Hackney Marshes Torch Relay BBC concert – talking about the work that LBH have been doing with the BBC to date. Also providing information on the partnership approach LBH have built around the event and outlining how LBH want the event to bring real and lasting benefits to large sections of the community.
* BBC concert – Claire Thomas BBC – Providing information on previous BBC Big Weekend events and the results they have produced for local communities and businesses.

The presentation will take place from 2pm until 3.30pm and then the attendees can split up into two groups in order to allow BEMA Members to engage with the 2012 Officers and have a discussion around ideas of how BEMA Members can get involved with the Olympics and Paralympic Games. This can either be obtained via one of the major projects outlined above or through developing new ideas. This will take place from 3.30pm until 5pm.
