Horses and cliches

Not sure if this is the best group for this- I’m sure @ewebber will correct it if wrong! For no particular reason, I was researching the definition and origin of the word ‘hackneyed’ (a \phrase or an idea which has been said or used so often that it has become boring and has no meaning”) and found this interesting article about it’s background.I’m sure we all recognise the borough’s “pleasant open good-quality grassland which became famous for the horses bred and pastured there” but I thought that the way the area (and its horses) had influenced so many modern-day phrases was worth sharing.Next up: hackneyed phrases about Hackney”
