  1. I’m afraid this has been put out in error by the someone at the Clapton Hart. The plaque will be unveiled at 3pm in Thistlewaite Road. There is no public gathering at the White Hart!

  2. It’s great that the Clapton Hart anted to celebrate Pinter too! Was anyone able to make both?

  3. @ianrathbone Why is it an \error” to celebrate Pinter?”

  4. Someone at the Clapton Hart (unbeknown to the manager) made an error in announcing a private booking made by the family & friends with CPNAG for a reception after the unveiling, not before, so it was at the wrong time anyway and should not have been announced. The only poetry reading arranged to take place was one poem by Harold Pinter read at the unveiling about his Hackney Downs school teacher Joseph Brearley. I was concerned people would turn up at 2pm at the Hart and find nothing happening. The Clapton Hart’s contribution was to very kindly allow us to use the space for free for the private reception later in the afternoon after the event. They did not organise any event themselves. We are very pleased that after around two years of discussions and planning, the plaque has finally been installed. There’s a report and some photos of the unveiling on the CPNAG Facebook page –  https://www.facebook.com/claptonponde5

  5. Harold was a scholar of Grocers opposite the Downs hotel, Donald Pleasence on the other hand made a movie called the Caretaker almost opposite in Downs rd
