Hackney’s hidden gems

Hi all! As a person who worked for Hackney Council for many years, Ive had the pleasure of exploring all that Hackney has to offer. I would like to put to you all, what would you say is your hidden little gem* in Hackney?*Anything from cafes, restaurants, bed&breakfast, hotels, Parks, bar/clubs etc…

  1. All of our coffee shops (we have a forum for that) including Josh’s wagon at the Narrow Way bus stop Monday to Friday. Avo Hotel, of course. Parkholme Supper Club. Hackney Road graffiti rocks. Also St Jos Hospice holds so many free sessions – yoga, Tai Ji Chuan, meditation open to everyone. Hackney Today – with its What’s On section. Mostly though, the people of Hackney are its hidden gems, and thanks to @ewebber we have the most vibrant web community anywhere in London – I’m sure of it!

  4. @hiddengems @nightboat has been on here for a while and first told us about his new cafe over a year ago! You can catch up on that thread over here: http://www.yeahhackney.com/corner-of-clapton-square-and-lower-clapton-road/ As far as Hackney gems go they are spread throughout the forums and so many to collate right now. But I particularly like the thread on the cinemas of Hackney http://www.yeahhackney.com/hackney-history-cinemas/

  5. Hahah @nightboat ?! Should have called himself Penguin 😉 (in joke)  Didn’t know he was on here hahah. Great stuff saved me a post 😉 – I am definitely looking forward to it opening up. Going to be our gem of the week maybe month if he serves welsh cakes 😉 There’s lots alright. I had fun today checking most of the site. WOW after working in hackney for 4 years I didn’t realize it had so many cinemas!  This is great stuff @ewebber – thanks for this :)”
