Hackney Speedway Fixtures For September

Speedway:Hackney Hawks were very unlucky to lose 44 – 46 at Belle Vue last night after a battling performance, but they did take a much needed point from the match. With just two matches remaining they are desperately hanging onto fourth position in the National Speedway League that would see them enter the play-offs for the NL championship. Other teams have matches in hand so they need points from their two remaining NL fixtures.3rd Sept National League Riders Champs (Individual) @ Rye House Winner: J. 1. I really must go and see Hawks next time they are in town (Lakeside). I really want to take some photos.

  2. @alexpink Hackney have finished all their fixtures at Lakeside and only have one remaining match at Rye House. A season of ‘so near yet so far’ for the Hawks as they just missed the play-offs. They went really close to winning away at Kings Lynn IOW Dudley and Belle Vue and suffered an unexpected home defeat to Dudley ultimately costing them a top four play-off position. It looks like both Lakeside and Rye House are reporting the joint venture to resurect the Hackney Hawks speedway team as a failed experiment so it looks as if the Hawks will become exiled once again.”

  3. @traxcitement What a shame. When is the Rye House race? Rye house is in Hoddesdon?

  4. @alexpink the meeting at Rye House is on September 18th, I would gladly have met you there but I’m at Open House this weekend and can’t make it.

  5. @traxcitement That would have good. Do you only ever watch the Hawks?

  6. @alexpink No, I am a fan of speedway in general, but Hackney have always been my team since I first went to the Waterden Road track in 1976.

  7. @alexpink the Hackney -v- Sheffield/Scunthorpe fixture at Rye House on the 18th has been cancelled and switched to Lakeside where it was originally scheduled. No date as yet I’ll post here as soon as I know.Press release here…http://www.hackneyspeedway.com/
