Hackney Revisited
I’ve been working on a Hackney based photography project over the last year which I am pleased to tell you about.
In collaboration with photographer Berris Conolly we have built up a collection of work that documents the borough in the 1980s and present day. Check it out – http://hackneyrevisited.yeahhackney.comCheers”

I don’t suppose you’ve found any pictures of Chatsworth Road in the 80’s?
alexpink
I haven’t looked through all the contact sheets yet, so you never know.

Oh this is awesome!!
Our Wednesday Walking Club did a similar thing this week but comparing photos from 1910s.
I found a photo of Broadway Market from 1912 went to the site and photo a photo too will post that on the Broadway Market forum when I get home tonight.”
alexpink
Sounds cool. I’d be interested to see it. Broadway Market appears in Hackney Revisited.

Good stuff – I have always been fascinated by ‘Now and Then’ photos, even better when it’s an area you are familiar with.
I did a similar project with the Somerford Estate using Gibberd’s original photos that he took of the estate when it was built.

Just wanted to endorse the exhibition and we have bought ten framed prints for our meeting rooms and offices. We love them and there awesome, we throughly recommend if you are free then it is worth a visit. The detail is exquisite and represents the ‘real’ Hackney.
wajerrr
I will try to come over
ewebber
yay! this is opening on Friday – can’t wait 🙂
alexpink
Hi all, my exhibition starts tomorrow night at Chats Palace. Come down and say hi if you can. There will be 17 pairs of ‘then and now’ photographs of Hackney from the 1980s and 2011. Plus theres a bar.
alexpink
Hackney Revisited in words – http://bit.ly/pVZIEII’ll be heading down to Chats later to hang the work and meet Berris. We have worked together on this project for the last year but have never met or spoken!”

@Alexpink I would be interested to know how Berris got this shot of Stonebridge Park he must have climbed up onto the railway line! All four Holly Street Tower Blocks were still standing in the background.http://www.berrisconolly.com/photo_607668.html“
alexpink
@traxcitement He was on the old disused Broad St line (now the East London Line). He took a few pics from up there. The exact spot would place the viewer on the new Haggerston station platform (southbound). TFL have put a glass safety screen up, hence preventing me from retaking the shot (to a high enough standard).

I missed the opening on Friday and was very curious to see this exhibition, so I went to Chats Palace this afternoon, only to find closed doors and nobody answering the phone when I rang the number on the notice board.Opening times apparently 12:00 – 6p.m, was there at 16:30.Very disappointing! At least leave a note…
alexpink
@exberlinerin Sorry to hear that. I was down there at lunch time myself and had the same problem. Lucky for me someone was there to let me in. Its something I’m going to raise with them tomorrow. I’ll be down there next Sunday to ensure the doors are kept open all day.
traxcitement
@alexpink is this exhibition still on? Would like to see it sometime.
alexpink
@traxcitement It sure is. Its on until the end of November. The weekends are probably easier in terms of opening times. If you’re going mid week its probably best to give Chats Palace a call to find out when they are open. Give me a shout if you run into any problems.

@alexpink I finally got to Chats Palace to see the exhibition on Saturday well done to you and Berris – what a cool building too!”
alexpink
@traxcitement Thanks Brian, glad you enjoyed it.
