Hackney for Foodies

At the risk of being accused of blatant self promotion, I thought I’d give a few links to a couple of posts I’ve written previously about foodie goings on in Hackney. I aim to contribute some original foodie posts to this site in the future, but hope for now this might provide some food for thought …

A Foodie Tour Through Hackney Wick

A few months ago I wrote a post on my blog about a foodie tour I was taken on through Hackney Wick, stopping at The Counter cafe, The Hackney Pearl, and Forman & Field. Here’s the post if you’re interested. The area is worth checking out just for its uber cool graffiti!

At the time I had just moved to Hoxton and was still finding my foodie feet in the area – some readers very kindly left comments giving their foodie suggestions for East London. Let me know if you have any to add!

The Shed Likes Food supper club

The Shed is based in Newington Green (maybe not technically Hackney, but once you’ve tried their food you’ll be happy to pretend it is) and is my favourite supper club. I first went in early 2010 and wrote this post. Since then I’ve been at least 5 times more and have never had a bad meal. The atmosphere is incredibly laid back and welcoming, the food is always top quality British (where possible) ingredients and the cooking instinctive and full of love. Oh and they only charge enough to cover costs, so it’s rarely more than £15 each. You really must check it out!

Broadway Market

My favourite London food market! Such an eclectic mix of interesting people and really excellent food, without pretension or smothering crowds of people. A stroll along the canal to or from is lovely at any time of year, and a picnic in London Fields is the perfect spot to eat your purchases in summer. Here’s my post on this fab market.
