Good Gym expanding Hackney can you help?
The social initiative GoodGym are looking for a base in Hackney and need help finding it. GoodGym is a really interesting initiative which arose out of a frustration with normal gyms being a waste of energy and human potential. They take the notion that gyms are a waste of energy (both in powering machines and a futile use of human energy) and put that energy to good use. They have been focussing on loneliness and isolation amongst older people and pair up runners with those in need of company. “The Good Gym pairs runners with isolated less-mobile people in their area. Runners jog to their house deliver something nice have a brief chat and are on their way again. It helps people get fit by providing a good reason to go for a run and it helps the person being visited by providing them with some friendly human contact and a newspaper or piece of fruit. They currently run from Tower Hamlets Newham and Waltham Forest but looking for a good base in Hackney. Does anyone know of somewhere that’s open until 9.30 is not a pub/bar and has somewhere they can safely lock bags.
