For sale: Cyril Guimard vintage steel bike
Morning all After 12 good months with this bike I have to sell it to clear space. It’s partway through a renovation so some of the parts look a little grufty – although it rides great. When I bought it, it was setup with moustache bars and an old stem. I’ve since replaced quite a few things:- Replacement (second hand) wheels – Campag Record hubs w/ Mavic rims to replace the old steel wheels.- New drop bars and Shimano brake levers, plus chrome stem- Chrome seat post and Condor Selle Royal seat- Improved the gearing with 7 speeds on the back instead of 5- New Panaracer tyres, barely worn- Reclaimed Sachs front and back derailleurs from a Raleigh milk race to replace the worn Simplex ones fitted originally I still have all the old parts too which I’m happy to throw in incase you’d like to set it up it differently. In case you’re interested in the background, Cyril Guimard was a French road cyclist who won Tour stages in the 70s then went on to be director of the Renault Elf team in the 80s. There’s barely any information about this brand of bikes which leads me to think it’s quite a rarity. I’d be looking for £250 due to all the money I’ve spent on parts – and also how much I’ve been asked for bikes in much worse shape when I originally bought it. Here are a lot of pictures: http://www.philsheard.com/personal/bike-for-sale-cyril-guimard-hand-made-steel-frame-touring-bike/philsheard/ More than anything I’d like to see it go to a good home because I think it’s a beautiful bike and it rides really smoothly.”
