Robinson in Ruins Film screening at Lumiere 9th May

Encounters With The Obscure is back….On the 9th May, 8pm we will be screening Patrick Keiller‘s feature-lenght essay fiction ‘Robinson in Ruins‘ (1997).Vanessa Redgrave assumes the role of the narrator, after the death of Paul Scofield who narrated the previous films. Redgrave takes the part of the narrator’s former lover. As her predecessor she guides us through the adventures of the unseen, titular character, Robinson. There is a special focus on the importance of nature as we are guided through Oxford’s picturesque surroundings. Keiller weaves the surreal, philosophy, architecture, the arts, science. politics, history and agriculture in this exploration of the natural world.
