FARM:shop café opening soon
We’re working flat-out to open the café very soon, and are still looking for a few items. Can you help us with the following?- we need a professional coffee machine; do you know where we can get a good one free/second-hand/discounted? – we are currently collecting small to medium sized empty jars (and their lids): jam jars, pesto jars, baby food jars etc. Give us your spares and – presto! In a few weeks time we’ll let you buy them back full of delicious things inside…- we also need kitchen scales: the tiny ones we have will only measure one leaf of basil at a time… If you think you can help, you can either pop over to the FARM:shop (a few doors down from the Dalston Kingsland station), email Kristen at kristen@somethingandson.com, or call her on 07917 467 460.Thanks!

Cool, will start collecting jars 🙂

@saladefolle – the most important question here is: What coffee will you be serving?
saladefolle
@ewebber: I know, but I’m being patient and waiting for the guys in the café team to reveal all… They all have great catering experience, so I’m sure it’ll be good. If not, we can stage a demo, Hackney-style (did you see yesterday’s? It went past the FARM:shop and sounded like a carnival!)
kirsti
hey i just wanted to tell you you’re idea & vision is GREAT! how cool and it could only happen in Hackney! can’t wait to visit and say hello – oh and yes tell those boys the coffee had better be fabulous ie square mile made slowly with love, care and the Ozzie touch! (c’mon admit it they ARE the best baristas in town!) all the best

Gah I just put a few nice jars out in my recycling box for tomorrow. Can we just drop them off anytime? Can’t wait to come and have a coffee, have been peering in with much interest as I’ve been walking past

@ kirsti: thanks for your kind message; the guys behind the big idea are Paul, Sam and Andy from Something & Son http://www.somethingandson.com/. Everybody else is part of the army of volunteers working hard to make it happen.@dml82: it’d be great if you could build up a small collection and drop them off at the shop during working hours week days (you can email Kristen, kristen@somethingandson.com, to be sure someone is around) or week-ends where we are always around. Thanks in advance!I have been lobbying the café team for Square Mile coffee, but for now they are all saying it is sooo expensive… If lots of people post messages on here about serving Square Mile at the FARM:shop, then perhaps they can be convinced?

Just spent the evening planting seeds in propagating trays – so far we have basil, mint, mixed chards, mixed lettuce, pak choi, spinach, lots of chives, all to be transferred soon into our aquaponics system. I can’t remember what we have in the polytunnel outside! Bet you can’t wait to come and watch them grow while you sip on a nice cuppa…
