Breaking up with my Fatsia
Dear Fatsia Japonica,
we’ve been together for a long time. You are my first, the one that went into the ground when I was still unsure of gardening and my garden in particular. How long ago was that? 12 years? More?
We both tried to make it work, we really did. I gave you extra water, you gave me a few sprigs of flowers (in a cold and wet year).
However, we need to face facts now. I know you have been unhappy for a long time, your yellowing leaves tell me so. I guess you really want a quiet, shady space, which I can’t provide. So it’s time for us both to move on.
I may find happiness with something more sun-and drought-loving; you will surely make someone a very lovely garden plant.
In this spirit, does anyone want to take a large-ish Fatsia off my hands? 😉

hi Simone – we’d be interested and have a back garden with plenty of shade. couldn’t figure out how to message you privately to discuss further – have sent a ‘friend request’…
