Biblical art show by Dalston artists in Hackney Wick (3 Nov)

An explosive new exhibition based on a seminal biblical scene is set to rouse and delight in equal measure in Hackney. Called “Ecce Homo (Behold the man)” – after the Latin words used by Pontius Pilate when he presented Jesus Christ to a hostile crowd before his crucifixion – the multidisciplinary art show explores the themes of responsibility and sacrifice in the present day. The six artists, who call themselves Action and Power, will take over the Mother Project Space, Mother Studios, in White Post Lane, Hackney Wick, next month. Artist Francisco Ortega, from Dalston, said: “We have drawn inspiration from the bible and have set it within the context of the current socio-economic crisis.
