Anniversary of the riots – what’s changed?
Can you believe it’s been a year? Well it has and although there have been loads of reports and articles in the paper it doesn’t seem like much has changed.I run a social enterprise working with young people and Stop & Search comes up so often as a major issue time and time again. It led to me researching the riots and Stop & Search and finally joining up with a bunch of other organisations to write an open letter asking the government to suspend one really suspect law ( Section 60 ) and putting on a creative exhibition with Offcentre and Art Against Knives at their Boxpark unit in Shoreditch. Anyhow if this subject interests you please come along to Boxpark on Thursday from 6 to see our exhibition, get in touch lucy@yhworld.co.uk and SIGN UP to www.stopandtalk.co.uk Peace Lucy

Don’t know if this is a stupid question but how were stop & searches responsible for the riots?

Stop and Search weren’t responsible for the riots, but creates a them and us attitude between young people and the police. Stopping people because of the colour of their skin or the way they dress, reinforces negative stereotypes…..
