Air pollution in Stoke Newington – public meeting on Monday 11th March, 6pm, Stokey Town Hall
Hi everyone I’ m organising a public meeting to raise awareness about the air quality problem in the borough of Hackney. The heavy traffic is causing areas such as Stoke Newington Church Street are three times over the EU recommended safe limits for pollutants! You can have a look at where you live by typing in your address here: http://www.londonair.org.uk/london/asp/annualmaps.asp Air pollution is causing lots of health problems for Londoners including asthma, respiratory disorders, cancers and heart disease. It’s also affecting the development of children’s lungs! Last year over 4,000 people died from air quality related disorders. The meeting will let you know about the problem and then what can be done to improve the air in the borough of Hackney. Anyone who lives or works in Hackney can come along. The meeting will start at 6pm and lasts until 7pm. You can just turn up on the evening but if you know you are coming along please let me know as then i can get an idea of numbers! Thanks everyone, i’d be interested to hear your thoughts. KateSustrans https://champions.sustrans.org.uk
