Have just discovered Fix on Richmond Road. I’ve had two deep tissue back, neck and shoulder massages with Robbie and they are pretty much the best I’ve ever had. Not for those seeking relaxing spa massages but if you’re sporty or have aches and pains from being bent over a computer all day, I would highly recommend. http://m.fixlondon.co.uk/contact.html read more »

Millers Terrace Sign

Anyone know anything about this old enamel sign on Millers Terrace off Stoke Newington High Street? It is mounted high up and fairly close to the standard Hackney Borough street sign which also looks 50+ years old. This sign looks very old and although very faded seems to have no other text on it. @Sam Roberts does this qualify as a ghost sign? read more »

The Dressing Room tosses the traditional salad to the side, stabs Caesar in the back, checks out of the Waldorf and pops up in East London. A tasty rebuttal to the idea that salads are solely for the health conscious, The Dressing Room serves filling and delicious dishes full of inventive textures, with an emphasis on the dressing. The clue is in the name. Everything comes with DIY dressings for t... read more »

Scooter mechanics/repairs

Hi My Vespa GTV125 needs a bit of looking at as the coolant has been leaking pretty badly recently. I usually use Scooterden for repairs/servicing, however they seem exceptionally busy lately and I’ve heard they’re possibly at the pricier end of the scale, though I’ve never had a problem with any of the work done there. Does anyone have any recommendations when it comes to mechan... read more »

Where to Stay in Hackney

Where to Stay in Hackney

Hackney. The name conjures up images of gritty, urban bars, retro antiques markets and artisan, organic, home-brewed coffee in eco-friendly, up cycled, recycled cups. This borough might be known by the uninformed as just a hipster mecca, but HouseTrip.com’s insider resident, journalist and blogger Donald Strachan knows better. He’s written his own, personalised journey through Hackney ... read more »

Plumber/shower expert

We Own the Night 10k 10/05/14

I am running the We Own the Night 10k in my NIA Project t-shirt, not the corporate stuff sadly attached to this race. I’ll be thinking of Margaret Muller as I run. She was brutally murdered whilst running round Victoria Park, where tomorrow’s event takes place, in 2003. She was a Hackney-based artist originally from the USA. I will donate my ‘goodie’ bag (see pics on @gilly... read more »
