2 sash windows – anyone want ’em before the skip does?
Seems ridiculous really, me offering my old sash windows up for grabs, but feel bad at just throwing them out.
Basically I’ve pulled out the sashes from the frames, as I’m replacing them with double-glazed versions. They’re in need of re-puttying and painting, but they’re pretty sound otherwise.
So, if you live in a similar property, i.e. probably along Clarence Road and on the 2nd floor, they’re yours! (Dimensions of window space is approx 145cm x 110cm.)
Or they’re going to sneak into the skip outside very soon. Sniff.

@karlrees I’ve seen this place in Essex Rd that converts them into mirrors. Maybe they’ll give you a few bob for them?

Thanks benjamin. Will get in touch with them – feel a bit guilty just throwing them away.

I used some to build a small greenhouse. I’d post pictorial evidence but phone makes it fiddly…
karlrees
Greenhouse sounds like a great idea! Thanks for the inspiration.

Here’s the greenhouse with the sash windows. There’s another at the south-facing end (right) and three other boring new-style windows were cannibalised for the roof.”

Very impressed! Your windows are more fancy, but I’m sure I could come up with some kind of pitched-roof design with what I’ve got…
And then lug it up to the flat roof. Hmmm.
Thanks again for the idea.

Hey Amy,
My sash boxes, i.e. what the windows fit into, measure 1450mm tall by 1115mm wide.
You’re welcome to come and inspect them if you want.
