‘VIEWS ABOUT LONDON 2012 IN YOUR BOROUGH’

Are you a local resident or business owner in one of the five London Boroughs hosting the London Olympics? I am looking for people who are willing to discuss their views and experiences (both positive and negative) of the Olympics in their local area. My name is Sadie Hollins and I am currently studying for a PhD in ‘The Greening of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games’ at the University of Central Lancashire. With London 2012 aiming to be the ‘first sustainable Olympic Games’, my research aims to talk to key groups about environmental sustainability within the context of the Olympic Games. I am really interested in finding out more with respect to the views and experiences of local residents and businesses located within the five London Olympic Boroughs (Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Greenwich, Newham and Waltham Forest). I would very much like to arrange a series of group discussions (lasting up to an hour) with any localresidents and businesses located in the five London Olympic Boroughs that are willing to share their views on this topic at a time and location suitable to you. All information discussed will be kept anonymous and will only be used for the purposes of my study. Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have. Sincerely, Sadie Hollins For further information please contact:Sadie HollinsSchool of Sport, Tourism and The OutdoorsUniversity of Central LancashirePrestonPR1 2HEEmail: sfhollins@uclan.ac.ukFor more information regarding my research please visit this link:http://www.uclan.ac.uk/schools/ssto/research/iriss/postgraduate_research_supervision.php

  1. no sign of anything green in hackney in terms of Olympic legacy. rather they’re building car parks on marshes they claim are \temporary”. greenest ever games- sponsored by McDonalds. I don’t think the Olympics has been bad for Hackney but talking about The Greening of the games seems laughable frankly. “

  2. Hey! Thanks for sharing your experience- I think the Marshes are a particularly interesting area of debate. Would you be interested in taking part in a group discussion on environmental sustainability and the Olympics? If so, please drop me a line at sfhollins@uclan.ac.uk. Alternatively please feel free to share your views on here- any insight I can gain into this topic from people who live and work in the Olympic Boroughs is invaluable. Thanks Sadie”

  3. Hi Sadie As there are now 6 host boroughs now are you going to include Barking and Dagenham?

  4. Sadie if you havent already you might want to contact members of the Millifields User Group (I’m not one) via their blog http://millfieldspark.blogspot.com/ People from Leabank Square might have something to say too http://leabanksquare.blogspot.com/Good luck! “

  5. Hi Davo- yes I am looking to speaking with local residents and businesses within Barking and Dagenham as a result of their inclusion as a sixth Olympic Borough. I think this will be particularly interesting as perhaps the positives and negatives of being an Olympic Borough will be experienced in such a short space of time. Alexisk- thank you for your recommendations, I will be sure to contact these groups. Kind Regards,Sadie
