Craft Cakes
Craft Cakes is located in Hackney and we specialise in hand-made and specially-designed custom cakes and desserts for weddings, christenings, birthdays and anniversaries, as well as corporate events. We also offer fun, informal and hands-on workshops and private parties for adults and children.
Pastry Chef Leigh left a career in advertising and events back in her native Singapore and went to culinary school in New York City to pursue her dream.
She has worked with New York’s renowned cake designer Ron-Ben Israel, where she developed her skills for creating exquisitely-styled wedding and celebration cakes.
She moved to London in January 2009 and worked as a pastry chef at Michelin-starred Mayfair restaurant Sketch before starting Craft Cakes in July 2010.
When asked what she finds most fulfilling about making this drastic switch of careers, she replies ”Being able to put a smile on the faces of complete strangers with the cakes and pastries I create, it makes me love what I do.”
