Very good new Italian restaurant on the block

Look to your laurels, nu-Clapton restaurants: Prima o Poi is about a fortnight old at the south end of Chatsworth Road. Very imaginative menu – starters include swordfish carpaccio with orange and pomegranate with a rocket salad – and much cheaper than you’d expect. Child-friendly, too (Baby Pomodoro pasta for a fiver). Great service, nice peeps. It will be ram jam soon but for the moment you’ll have no problem getting a table. Tuck in »

Anyone fancy opening up their own business on leafy Clapton Square? The small retail unit next to Dreyfus has been occupied by the lovely Shop On The Square since the building was redeveloped in summer 2012, but the Shop On The Square team is moving on in June, freeing up the unit. It’s a great location, looking out directly onto the square, and gets a lot of business from Dreyfus’s customers. If it sounds like this could be the perfect location for your independent shop, email [email protected] for more info, or ring 020 8985 4311. »

Rivington Street Pedestrianisation proposal

There is a consultation out about turing Rivington St into a pedestrianised zone, the proposal is to: • Introduce ‘Pedestrian Zone’ • Install ‘Pedestrian Zone’ signs • Install CCTV • In operation 24/7 • Access for loading 6am-6pm • Access for taxis at all times • Loading and taxis remain one way • special dispensation for residents/businesses two way access for cyclists. And ends on 25th April. I’m assuming the taxis at all times is to cater the customers of the businesses there. I wonder how much additional traffic there currently is aside from taxis.
